As of December 31, 2006, Brasil Telecom had approximately 8.4 million local fixed-lines, 277,854 public telephones, and 3.4 million mobile clients. In addition, it provides value-added services, such as 1-900 calling, call forwarding, voice mail, caller ID, call waiting, and directory inquiry voice service, as well as advertising on public telephone cards. The company was founded in 1998. It was formerly known as Tele Centro Sul Participacoes S.A. and changed its name to Brasil Telecom Participacoes S.A. in 2000. The company is based in Brasilia, Brazil. Brasil Telecom Participacoes S.A. is a subsidiary of Solpart Participacoes S.A.
